OKC
Now is your time to shine, to celebrate all of you, and everything you stand for. It is your time to be pampered, to tell your story, to show the world that OKC style, your unique beauty. You are worthy of beautiful images, fit to be featured in an magazine. You are enough and you deserve the hair and the makeup, the lights, and recognition. It's time for YOU to show up, and show out.
WHAT STARTED AS A FILM AND ART EXHIBIT IN TULSA HAS BECOME A MOVEMENT AND NOW WE ARE BRINGING IT TO YOUR CITY!
We set out to feature around forty local women over the age of forty in the "She Is Tulsa" project, but we shot over seventy women and sold out two incredible red-carpet documentary screenings and we realized there was no way we could stop there. We are now producing a quarterly magazine and it is THE magazine for Tulsa women. But we started hearing from women all over the country that they NEEDED something like this in THEIR town too- and we are answering that call!
I want to empower each and every one of you to embrace who you are and show off your personal style. Whether we go full glam with hair, makeup, and an evening gown, or simple and chic with a shoot in boots and a blazer-This is all about what makes YOU unique. These are images worthy of Vogue magazine-worthy of YOU and all of the things that you are, all the roles that you play. This is an opportunity to see yourself through my lens, a true expression of how amazing and beautiful you are, and I cannot wait to photograph you in this way.

"It was a beautiful evening. I had the honor of bringing my 18-year-old son and he left understanding the incredible importance of women. I want to say I have taught him that lesson-and I have, but this night was different….. I believe this night has changed his appreciation for women."
Shannon
"Thank you Nicole Barton for your patience. You have made a major impact on some of my healing & growth process. What I have gained from it, is not what I expected... Yet, have been searching for."
EUWANDA
"With She Is Tulsa, you get a community. If you really want to find your tribe, She Is Tulsa can do that for you. I've found my tribe, and I have been looking for YEARS."
DR. JEAN MARIA
"I’m not very comfortable in front of a camera; I become really awkward. Nicole Barton made it so easy. I felt like I was having fun taking pictures with a friend. I could be weird and do my thing without feeling judged. My pictures turned out fabulous. I also got the privilege to meet a very special group of women, and what an honor it was."
RHIANNON
"Nicole and her team were phenomenal and I felt like a movie star. I wish every woman to have this experience. I'm so excited to continue meeting all of the ladies involved. This movement is one of the best things to be involved with for not just us, but for the women of generations after our own. Our daughters, witnessing our transformations and benefiting from the wisdom, networking, and the bonds of friendship that form. That's a great legacy."
DEBRA
"Undoubtedly we are all busy as moms, wives, business owners. We are expected to have our acts together 24/7 sometimes without a lot of focus on what we have accomplished. Individually we know we work hard. Together, this group, reminded us that we aren’t alone and that Tulsa loves and needs us. Nicole was a gem to my wife and I. I’ll always follow what she does and be a fan."
KARA
"This project was a way for me to experience a new adventure that focused on me and not the role that I play in someone else’s life. It was a great experience for me and gave me an evening to spend with my two sons. I think they got to see me in a new light and as one of them is now a parent of three children, helped them to appreciate what it means to be a parent and still invest in yourself. It was a joy to be a part of and I am thankful that Nicole Barton put this all together!"
CHARLOTTE
I don’t usually like pictures taken of me. I want people to get to know me so they can see that my beauty comes from the inside. But THESE PHOTOS????? You made me look how I feel on the inside. You captured in pictures how I feel about myself on the inside. So many people overlook me because my hair is grey or I’m not skinny or whatever flaw they choose to see. But those that choose to get to know me will see that looks are not all were women possess. It’s not about what is on the outside. I thank you for seeing me. Thank you for showing my world what I see.
DR. SHANNON
"Women equal power! The whole SHE IS TULSA experience celebrated this exponential power, creativity, and strength. I felt honored and grateful to be a part of this incredible group of women AND a woman who calls Tulsa, Home! Thanks again, Nicole!!"

MEET THE CREATOR
Nicole Barton has been shooting professionally since 2009. Over the course of her career, she's earned Bronze and Silver in the Portrait Masters Competition and placed in international competitions. She is the creator of Crowned In Silver Magazine, and the She Is Tulsa documentary, art exhibit and magazine, as seen on the Oprah Winfrey Network, Channel 2 News, Channel 8 News and Fox 23. Her work has been published in Forbes, and Ebony Magazine, amongst others. Empowering women of all sizes, shapes, shades, and ages through representation in gorgeous images has been her mission for over a decade. It is the bond she builds with the women she meets that drives her passion, as well as watching them transform through the experience of seeing themselves in a new way.
WHY A FILM AND EXHIBIT? WHY HERE? WHY NOW?
"In 2021 I relocated to Tulsa from Los Angeles! Six months pregnant with my third daughter, our family moved halfway across the country for something new. I'm a woman who loves to be out in the community, to check out all the places, see all the things, and meet all the people. So far, so good! We are enjoying it here. But you know, people back home thought I was kind of crazy and I always get asked, "Why would you leave California for Tulsa?" People who aren't here have a lot of misconceptions about Oklahomans. I was recently photographing a beautiful woman from Missouri and she told me, "People think women in this part of the country don't have style-and we DO! We're just not represented." Listen, representation is my JAM. I need women to be SEEN. I need them to be lifted up and to celebrate every facet of who they are. What better way for me to meet all the incredible women in my new community than by highlighting their unique lifestyle and beauty and presenting it to the world in a kickass screening and exhibit?! Because why NOT right?! So I turned my lens onto Tulsa, my new home. To celebrate the women in this community and create a stunning visual representation of WHO THEY ARE. We shot the gallery of images and the short film, and the exhibit and red carpet screening were incredible. So many more women approached me wanting to be a part of something so special, and I know there are so many more incredible women here to be featured. So many of the women who were in the art project have called the experience life-changing. A magazine was the perfect way to keep providing this experience to women, to highlight women-owned businesses, to bring women inspiring and beautiful local content.
Within the first year of creating this "She Is" project, I had women from all over the country asking me to come to their city and bring this to them. I want women all over to experience what this IS. I want them to feel like celebrities and have an artistic representation of themselves, a media outlet that truly speaks to who they are. This "She is" thing has become a MOVEMENT and Oklahoma City was the obvious next step for me because we are neighbors!"
