Now is your time to shine, to celebrate all of you, everything you stand for. It is your time to be pampered, to tell your story, to show the world that midwest style, your unique beauty. You are worthy of beautiful images, fit to be featured in a magazine. You are enough and you deserve the hair and the makeup, the lights, and recognition. It's time for country girls to show up, and show out.
"SHE IS TULSA" MAGAZINE HAS LAUNCHED AND WE ARE NOW BOOKING!
This is your moment. What started as an incredible art exhibit and short film has become Tulsa's first and only magazine for women. I set out to feature around forty local women over the age of forty in the "She Is Tulsa" project, but we shot over seventy women and held two incredible red carpet screenings and we realized there was no way we could stop there. We are now producing a quarterly magazine featuring everything you care about-Inspiring stories from women, local events, women-owned business features, health and beauty advice and so much more. This is THE magazine for Tulsa women and it is filled with gorgeous images.
I want to empower each and every one of you to embrace who you are and show off your personal style. Whether we go full glam with hair, makeup, and an evening gown, or simple and chic with a shoot on your boat in boots and a blazer-This is all about what makes YOU unique. These are images worthy of Vogue magazine-worthy of YOU and all of the things that you are, all the roles that you play. This is an opportunity to see yourself through my lens, a true expression of how amazing and beautiful you are, and I cannot wait to photograph you in this way.

"It was a beautiful evening. I had the honor of bringing my 18-year-old son and he left understanding the incredible importance of women. I want to say I have taught him that lesson-and I have, but this night was different….. I believe this night has changed his appreciation for women."
Shannon
"Thank you Nicole Barton for your patience. You have made a major impact on some of my healing & growth process. What I have gained from it, is not what I expected... Yet, have been searching for."

"I’m not very comfortable in front of a camera; I become really awkward. Nicole Barton made it so easy. I felt like I was having fun taking pictures with a friend. I could be weird and do my thing without feeling judged. My pictures turned out fabulous. I also got the privilege to meet a very special group of women, and what an honor it was."
RHIANNON
"Nicole and her team were absolutely incredible, and I felt like a true movie star. I sincerely hope that every woman gets the chance to have this amazing experience. I'm tremendously excited to keep connecting with all the other women involved in this. It's truly one of the most extraordinary movements to be a part of, not just for us, but for future generations of women. Our daughters will witness our incredible transformations and gain so much from the wisdom, connections, and deep friendships that develop. It's truly a remarkable legacy to leave behind."
DEBRA
"Undoubtedly we are all busy as moms, wives, business owners. We are expected to have our acts together 24/7 sometimes without a lot of focus on what we have accomplished. Individually we know we work hard. Together, this group, reminded us that we aren’t alone and that Tulsa loves and needs us. Nicole was a gem to my wife and I. I’ll always follow what she does and be a fan."
KARA
"This project was a way for me to experience a new adventure that focused on me and not the role that I play in someone else’s life. It was a great experience for me and gave me an evening to spend with my two sons. I think they got to see me in a new light and as one of them is now a parent of three children, helped them to appreciate what it means to be a parent and still invest in yourself. It was a joy to be a part of and I am thankful that Nicole Barton put this all together!"
CHARLOTTE
I don’t usually like pictures taken of me. I want people to get to know me so they can see that my beauty comes from the inside. But THESE PHOTOS????? You made me look how I feel on the inside. You captured in pictures how I feel about myself on the inside. So many people overlook me because my hair is grey or I’m not skinny or whatever flaw they choose to see. But those that choose to get to know me will see that looks are not all were women possess. It’s not about what is on the outside. I thank you for seeing me. Thank you for showing my world what I see.
DR. SHANNON
"Women equal power! The whole SHE IS TULSA experience celebrated this exponential power, creativity, and strength. I felt honored and grateful to be a part of this incredible group of women AND a woman who calls Tulsa, Home! Thanks again, Nicole!!"

WHY A MAGAZINE? WHY NOW?
"Last year I relocated to Tulsa from Los Angeles! Six months pregnant with my third daughter, our family moved halfway across the country for something new. I'm a woman who loves to be out in the community, to check out all the places, see all the things, and meet all the people. So far, so good! We are enjoying it here. But you know, people back home thought I was kind of crazy and I always get asked, "Why would you leave California for Tulsa?" People who aren't here have a lot of misconceptions about the Midwest. I was recently photographing a beautiful woman from Kansas City and she told me, "People think women in the Midwest don't have style-and we DO! We're just not represented." Listen, representation is my JAM. (So much so that I created an entire magazine dedicated to mature women who embrace their gray hair because that is a demographic that just wasn't getting the royal treatment that they deserve!) I need women to be SEEN. I need them to be lifted up and to celebrate every facet of who they are. What better way for me to meet all the incredible women in my new community than by highlighting their unique lifestyle and beauty and presenting it to the world in a kickass screening and exhibit?! Because why NOT right?! So I turned my lens onto Tulsa, your home, and now my home too. To celebrate the women in this community and create a stunning visual representation of WHO YOU ARE. We shot the gallery of images and the short film, and the exhibit and red carpet screening were incredible. So many more women approached me wanting to be a part of something so special, and I know there are so many more incredible women here to be featured. So many of the women who were in the art project have called the experience life-changing. A magazine is the perfect way to keep providing this experience to women, to highlight women-owned businesses, to bring Tulsa women inspiring and beautiful local content. I am so excited to keep meeting you all and to highlight you in our community."
I'm here waiting to meet you, and you deserve this.
